DALLAS, Texas – Buoyed by three golfers in the top 40, UT Arlington sits a solid ninth place after Monday's first two rounds of the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate at Royal Oaks Country Club.
The Mavericks are 5-over par as a team, the team's best showing through two rounds in any tournament during the fall. Jake Argento is tied for 15th at 2 under, with Brad Mason and Josh Radcliff tied for 37th at 1 over.
The Mavericks were seventh after the first round after a 2-over-par 357. UT Arlington came back with a 3-over 358 in the afternoon round.
"I thought we got better today," UT Arlington coach Jay Rees said. "This field is as strong as any NCAA Regional we have played in. To have all of our guys shoot 74 or better is really good.
"I'm looking forward to see if we can shoot the low round of the day. But we are getting better and that is what is important."
Oklahoma State (21 under) leads the deep field at Royal Oaks that includes Stanford, New Mexico, Baylor and SMU in the top five.
Tuesday's third and final round begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Tee times, scores and schedule of the complete Royal Oaks Intercollegiate can be found at the tournament homepage.
