Arlington, Texas - UTA's Zack Fischer will get a jump on the spring season as he will compete this weekend at the prestigious Jones Cup at Sea Island, Georgia.

A field of 84 players, including the top amateurs from around the world, will compete over 54 holes of stroke play at Ocean Forest Golf Club, Sea Island from Feb. 4-7.

Fischer was invited into the field after winning the Western Junior title last June. Some of the world's leading amateurs will take part in the event, including world number two and reigning European individual champion Victor Dubuisson while world number four Peter Uihlein will be the top ranked American in the field.

The Jones Cup was first contested in 2001 when current PGA Tour player D. J. Trahan was the medalist.

The UTA men's golf team begins their spring season by participating in the Battle at the Beach in Newport Beach, California from Feb. 14-16.
