ARLINGTON, Tx. - The UTA golf team begins the spring season with the 2009 Roadrunner Intercollegiate at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio on Monday and Tuesday February 16 and 17.
The team finished the spring season with a win in the UTA/Waterchase Invitational and a tie for third at the Turtle Bay Invitational in Hawai'i.
"I'm hoping we can come out and get off to a hot start this spring," said head coach Jay Rees. "Our players know a win in San Antonio would be a great kick start to the season. We have competed against some of the teams in the field in the fall and had good success against them so I'm looking for a good tournament from us."
Other schools in the tournament include UTSA, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, McNeese State, Louisiana-Monroe, DePaul, Air Force, Central Arkansas, Mississippi State, Wichita State, Texas State, Stephen F. Austin, Illinois State and Sam Houston State.
The teams will play 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 on Tuesday.
Massa shot a school record 62 in the Turtle Bay Invitational and posted the team's best stroke average at 71.33.
