MAVERICKS FINISH SIXTH AT MOBILE BAY INTERCOLLEGIATE

MOBILE, Ala. - The UTA golf team used a strong third round performance to move up the standings and finish sixth at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala. Tuesday.
The team's combined total of 301 was their best round of the tournament and the third best round of the day behind only South Alabama's 297 and tournament winner Mississippi State's 299 at the par 72, 7,239-yard Magnolia Grove Falls Golf Course. UTA finished just two shots out of fifth and four shots out of fourth place.
Bobby Massa was the top individual for the Mavericks as he finished in a tie for 17th with an 11-over score of 227 after shooting 77 Tuesday. Kevin Carrigan had the best round of the day for the Mavericks with a one-over 73 and finished the tournament at 230 (+14) and in a tie for 31st.
Zack Fischer returned for the third round after being disqualified from Monday's second round to shoot a three-over 75. Bryce Easton had a four-over 76 Tuesday and finished in a tie for 41st at 233. Michael Van deVenter had a five-over 77 in round three and was also in a tie for 31st at 230. UTA's Jamey Taylor played as an individual and finished in a tie for 75th at 244.
The Mavericks next tournament is at the Shocker Classic in Wichita, Kan., on March 30-31.
