Golf ers return to action at Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic
April 4, 2010
Arlington, Texas. - It's been over two weeks since the UTA golf team has been in action and that is just fine with head coach Jay Rees as his team returns to action at the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic in Wichita this week.
"We needed this time off from competition to work on some things and get ready to make the final drive to the conference tournament at the end of the month," Rees said. "We didn't have a good outing in our last tournament but we have gotten better in practice and I am looking for us to have a good tournament this week."
The tournament gets started with 36 holes Monday at the par-71 Wichita Country Club. The 6,814-yard course will then host the 18-hole final round on Tuesday.
Besides the Mavericks and the host Shockers of Wichita State, other teams in the 14-team field include Bowling Green, Drake, Hutchinson Community College, Kansas, Nebraska, Northeastern State, Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma City, South Dakota State, Texas Wesleyan, UMKC, Wayland Baptist and William Woods.
