During his high school career, Mullin won eight tournaments and came in second place in four others.
"To have a recruit of Michael's abilities and accomplishments from such a dominant golf program such as Austin Westlake, I feel it can open doors for other top players from Austin and throughout the state to be a part of building this program into one of national prominence," said Rees, now in his sixth season as the head golf coach at UTA.
In 2003, Mullin came in second in the Texas/Oklahoma Championship Division with rounds of 78, 74, 69 and 74 and tied for 17th at the AJGA TaylorMade at Bentwood shooting 74 and 72.
