UTA nine strokes behind leaders entering final day of conference tournament

MAGNOLIA, Texas - - The Texas-Arlington men's golf team weathered windy conditions to post a round of seven-over-par 295 to hold on to fifth place after the second day of the 2004 Southland Conference Men's Golf Championships here Tuesday.

The Mavericks stand with a total of 587, nine shots behind Louisiana-Monroe and Texas-San Antonio. They are tied for the team lead with a 36-hole total of 578.

Jordan Krantz had a two-over-par 74 to stand in seventh place at even par for the tournament. Tyrone Mordt shot even par 72 for a two-day total of 146. Marc Campbell (76-73-149), Chris Myers (72-78-150) and Landon Allen (77-76-153) round out the Mav results.

The final round on the par-72, 7370-yard course is Wednesday.
