GOLFERS TIE FOR EIGHTH AT MAXWELL CUP
May 16, 2004 ARDMORE, Okla. - The UTA golf team fired a final round nine-over-par 289 to finish in a tie for eighth place with SMU at the 13th Annual Maxwell Cup played at the Dornick Country Club here Sunday. The 54-hole total of 860 was the seventh lowest in school history and was the second-best tournament this season for the Mavs. UTA posted an 858 to claim ninth place at the South Alabam Classic during fall play on Oct. 27-28, 2003. Tyrone Mordt posted his fourth top 10 finish of the season with a final round of even-par 70 to finish the tournament at one-under 209. Jordan Krantz, who posted a 65 during the first round of the tournament, finished the final 36 holes 74, 73 to finish the tournament 212 and tied for 19th place. The remainder of the Mavs' lineup includes: Marc Campbell (71-72-75=218), Chris Myers (75-75-72=222) and Mitch Boles (81-79-74=234).
Co-host Oklahoma State (833), ranked eighth accroding to Golfweek for the week of May 9, who its third straight Maxwell Cup with a six-stroke win over Augusta State (839).
