MAVS LOOK TO CAPTURE THIRD STRAIGHT TOURNAMENT TITLE AT THE UT ARLINGTON FALL CLASSIC

Arlington, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington men's golf team will take a break from the road as they host the UT Arlington Fall Classic at the Waterchase Golf Club in Forth Worth, Texas on Monday, October 27, 2008. The 54-hole even begins Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Golfers will play two, 18-hole rounds on Monday and finish with 18 holes on Tuesday. Last year the Mavs, fired a final round six-over-par 294 for a 54-hole total of 13-under-par 51. The old record was 54 set twice at the Cleveland Golf Classic in 2002 and the Henry Griffits Invitational in 2001. Junior Michael Van Venter was the UTA's top golfer, where he tied for second with a final round 74 and a three-round total of four-under-par 212. The Mavs will look to capture their third straight title and will go head-to-head against Centenary College, Creighton University, Houston Baptist, Missouri State, Nicholls State, Northern Illinois University, North Dakota State University, Northwood University, Oklahoma Christian University, Oklahoma City University, Oral Roberts, Southern Illinois, Texas State, and UMCK.
