Dec. 2, 2008

ARLINGTON, Tx. - UT Arlington men's golf head coach Jay Rees announced today his program has signed Conner Ribble and Wes Worster to national letter of intents.

Ribble, is a region all-district selection from Texas High School in Texarkana, Tex. He posted a number of Top 10 finishes during his 2008 season including fourth at the Arkansas State Golf Association Junior Stroke play, ties for fifth at the AJGA Qualifier in Fayetteville, Ark. And TLJT Weibring Junior, a tie for sixth at the Texas Legend Tour Mark Brooks Shootout and a tie for ninth at the AGJA Bass Pro Shops/Payne Stewart Junior Championship in Springfield, Mo.

"Conner comes from a great golf tradition in Texarkana which also produced current Maverick golfer Zack Fischer," said Rees. "He has a lot of potential and adds to the list of quality players from the state of Texas we have been able to have on our team."

Worster is currently playing at Lon Morris Community College where he has helped lead his team to a No. 2 ranking in the country among junior colleges.

At last season's NJCAA National Championship tournament, Worster carded a six-under 66 in the final round which was the low individual round of the tournament. He finished in a tie for fifth in the tournament and helped his team finish in fourth place.

He was named a 2007-08 second team NJCAA Division I PING All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America and was an all-region selection.

"Wes is one of the top junior college players in the country," said Rees. "He is a big, strong kid that I think will solidify our lineup next year. He is a great putter and has the ability to post low scores."
