ARLINGTON, Tx. - UT Arlington's Bobby Massa has been named the Southland Conference men's golfer of the month for November, the league office announced Wednesday.

Massa, a junior from Irving, Texas, shot a school-record 62 in the final round of the Turtle Bay Invitational to lead UTA to a third-place tie at the 19-team tournament. Massa opened the tournament with a two-under par 70 and then shot a 74 in the second round to stand at even par. He then went out in the final round to shoot his record-setting 10-under par round. His tournament score of 10-under 206 placed him second in the tournament by one shot behind Ohio State's Vaughn Snyder. Massa's 62 broke the previous school record of 63 shot by Shad Muth at the UTSA Invitational in 2001. Massa's final score of 206 tied for the fourth-lowest 54-hole tournament score in school history. His round helped the Mavericks post a final round score of 271 which was the second-lowest in UTA history.

Each school's sports information director nominates and votes for the golfers of the month, though is not permitted to vote for a player from his or her own school.
