MEN'S GOLF SIGNS TOP TEXAS GOLFER

UT Arlington Head Men's Golf Coach Jay Rees announced the signing of Cameron Hollek to a national letter of intent to play for the Mavericks in the 2008-09 season.
"He is someone who is going to work hard and will be a strong student athlete," said Rees, now in his ninth season with the Mavs. "He is a person of high character and a strong work ethic. Cameron will fit in perfectly with this group. He has good size. He played baseball before getting into golf. In time, his 6-3 frame can be a strong asset."
A senior at Fort Bend (Texas) Austin High School, Hollek is ranked 17th in the Class of 2008 in the state of Texas.
He qualified for the 2007 U.S. Junior Amateur, posted two top-20 finishes for AJGA events in 2007 - 11th at the AJGA Fidelity Investments Championship (71-72-75-218) and the AJGA Randy Smith Classic (72-73-69-214). He finished 10th at the 2007 Texas-Oklahoma Junior Tournament with rounds of 74 and 69.
A four-year letterman at Austin High School, Hollek was the District 23-5A runner up with rounds of 71 and 75. Currently, he posts a stroke average of 72.5.
