ARLINGTON, Tx. - Former UTA golfer Tyrone Mordt had his highest finish on the PGA European Tour last week when he finished in a tie for eighth at the Alfred Dunhill Championship at the Leopard Creek Golf Course in Mpumalanga, South Africa.

Mordt shot rounds of 68-67-68-72 to finish at 13-under par and just four shots behind winner Richard Sterne.

Mordt, who played at UTA from 2002-06 and was a member of the Mavs 2005 Southland Conference Tournament championship team, will play in the South African Open this weekend (Dec. 18-21). The tournament can be seen on The Golf Channel from 8:30-11:30 a.m. each day.

By virtue of his finish in this tournament, Mordt will now also be able to play in October's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
