FORT WORTH, Texas – UT Arlington opened its 2013 season with a 7-0 loss to No. 67 Texas Christian University Friday evening the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
UT Arlington fell to 0-1 to start the season while TCU improves to 2-1 as the overall series between the two schools gave the Horned Frogs a 20-1 series record.
TCU took an early 1-0 lead over the Mavericks after the Horned Frogs swept UTA in doubles competition. Yauheni Yakauleu was joined by Carlos Arbiza at the No. 1 doubles position and the duo fought hard, but fell to Max Stevens and JT Sundling in 8-7 (3) battle.
Nationally ranked No.100 Arnau Dachs defeated Carlos Arbiza in a quick 6-3, 6-0. TCU continued to take down the Mavericks with freshman Marek Pasicka hanging on until the end, but fell to Rodolfo Bustamanta 8-7 (3).
The Mavericks are back on the court Feb. 8 to take on Centenary College at 10 a.m. and Cameron at 2 p.m. at UTA Tennis Center.
