Las Colinas, Texas - The Mavericks competed against No. 7 Baylor on Tuesday in Las Colinas, falling 6-1.
"Baylor is one of the best in the nation and came out strong in singles play. We feel confident of our doubles and this match will certainly give us a major confident boost," UT Arlington head coach Diego Benitez said.
One member of the doubles team was ranked at the No. 5 doubles spot at the end of the 2011 season. Nicolas Moreno and Stefan Williams also won their doubles match against Baylor's Diego Galeano and Grangeico 8-6.
"It was a great match played under a great atmosphere, after winning the doubles point we put ourselves in great position to win the overall match," Benitez said.
The men hit the court again Friday to host the Wichita State Shockers at 2 p.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
