ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington men's tennis swept both matches 7-0 in its double header Thursday over Centenary and Cameron. The Mavs scored all the singles points then moved on to sweep both doubles points on the day.
Senior Diego Mattar scored first for the Mavs in both matches as the No. 1 singles shutting down Cenenary's Mark Rodgman 6-0, 6-1 and Cameron's Jordi Mullor 6-2, 7-5. Teaming with Javier Herrera in the No. 2 double slot, they won 8-2, 8-5 on the day respectively.
Daniel Omana in the No. 2 spot won his match over Sera Kostelanetz from Centenary in straigt sets 6-0, 6-0 then teamed with Gonzalo Bienzobas to take an early 1-0 lead for the doubles point, 8-2. Against Cameron's Nicolas Mascheroni, Omana won 6-2, 6-3.
Herrera had the toughest set of the day falling in the first set 6-7 to Cameron's Agustin Criado, but bounced back to win 6-2, 10-8 in the No. 4 singles slot.
The Mavs will be back on the court on Saturday, Feb. 24 when they travel to take-on Arkansas-Little Rock at 11 a.m.
