Men's tennis wins 5-2 against Xavier

Arlington, Texas - The UT Arlington men's tennis team was able to come off a pair of losses to win against Xavier 5-2 at Walnut Creek Country Club.
"It was a great way to bounce back from a tough loss to UTSA," said head coach Diego Benitez. "We played very good in singles and we got to be ready for another hard match tomorrow at home."
While the doubles teams has been struggling to get the point the last couple of matches, Lucas Leppin and Brieuc Hamon have taken care of business improving their winning streak to 8-0. They were the lone Mavericks to win over Marc Pretorious and Phil Diaz 8-5.
The Mavs were able to bounce back after losing the doubles point to take five of the six singles matches.
No. 3 Leppin took the first win over Brandon Macdonald 7-6 and 6-2 while Moreno followed up by beating Starr 6-3 and 6-2 in the No. 6 position
Subirats came out the strongest going 6-2 and 6-0 against Bandy in the No. 5 spot.
Celedinas was the only Mavericks to record a loss in singles as he fell to Deye 4-6 and 7-5 in the top flight.
Yakauleu fought back after losing the first match 4-6 to record 6-4 back at Roebker in the second and third sets. UTA recorded the win with that. Erik Hjertonsson finished his match against Mesa Mei 6-2, 6-7 and 6-3 to give the finishing blow to Xavier.
Men's tennis now follows up by facing Southern Miss back in Arlington at the UTA Tennis Center. The match is set for 2 p.m.
