SACREMENTO, Calif.—The UT Arlington men’s tennis defeated UC Davis 5-2 Sunday, March 10 at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.
“The seniors stepped up and played really clean, fundamental doubles today,” UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. “Yauheni gave us an early point in singles and Soren closed a great tough match to clinch the match.”
The Mavericks won the doubles point giving them a 1-0 lead heading into singles competition.
Senior Yauheni Yakauleu had been struggling at the No. 1 position, but won a quick 6-4, 7-5 match to begin singles. Marek Pesicka, Soren Goritzka and Sebastian Gomez all won their singles point to give the Mavs a 5-2 victory.
“Our priority now is to recover physically and take on Pacific tomorrow,” Benitez said.
