MAVERICKS CAPTURE 4-3 WIN OVER NO. 62 UC SANTA BARBARA

Arlington, Texas - The UT Arlington men's tennis team recorded a huge 4-3 victory over No. 62 UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Mar. 7 at the UTA Tennis Center. The win improved the Mavs to 6-5 overall while the Gauchos fell to 4-5.

Dmitry Minkin and Mindaugas Celedinas dropped an 8-5 decision to Alex Konigsfeldt and Josh Finkelstein in the No. 1 spot in the lineup while Gonzalo Bienzobas and David Subirats suffered an 8-4 loss over Scott Hohenstein and Evan Jurgensen in the No. 2 position in the rotation.

Brieuc Hamon and Adam Srkala were the only Mavs to record a win in doubles' action, with an 8-1 victory over Taylor Chavez Goggin and Nick Caledonia in the No. 3 spot. After dropping the doubles point, the Mavericks fought hard and captured four of the six singles matches.

Celedinas notched a 7-5, 6-2 win over Konigsfeldt in the No. 1 spot while Minkin followed with a win of his own over Max Taylor, with scores of 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 2 position.

Hohenstein handed Hamon a 6-4, 6-3 decision in the No. 3 spot while Srkala dropped the No. 4 match against Finkelstein, by scores of 7-5, 7-6.

Subirats sealed the No. 5 match with a 2-6, 6-4 and 6-3 win over Chavez Goggin and Bienzobas defeated Mathieu Forget, 6-3, 6-3.

UT Arlington takes on Sacramento State on Saturday, Mar. 14 in Sacramento, Calif.
