LAS CRUCES, New Mexico - UT Arlington men's tennis went 2-1 this weekend in New Mexico.
The Mavericks started off their weekend Friday with a 4-3 win over future WAC opponent New Mexico State.
The Mavericks had a rough day Saturday falling to Idaho 6-1.
UT Arlington also faced off against Northern Arizona Sunday and picked up a 6-1 victory.
"Today's doubles were huge," UT Arlington head coach Diego Benitez said. "We came back at the No. 2 line from 7-2 down and won the deciding match to get that point.
"After that, the guys stepped up and played solid tennis putting a total of six points on the board."
Senior Mindaugas Celedinas proved to be the team's leader winning all of his matches this weekend at the No. 1 spot.
"It was a very productive weekend, we took two out of three matches against great teams plus playing in elevation makes it really tough element," Benitez said. "Mindaugas' performance was impressive winning all his matches at the top spot of the line up."
The Mavericks head to Dallas to take on the SMU Mustangs on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
