DALLAS, Texas - No. 50 SMU used strong singles play to roll past Texas-Arlington, 5-1, Wednesday afternoon in men's tennis action at the Haggar Tennis Stadium in Dallas. The loss drops the Mavericks to 9-8 overall.

After doubles play was cancelled due to rain in the meteroplex, SMU cruised through singles action to claim five of the six available points.

Sandy Farquharson fell to 11-6 on the year after falling to Paul McNaughton 6-4, 7-5 at the top flight. Diego Mattar turned those scores around for a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Gwinyai Chingoka at the No. 2 position for the Mavericks lone win of the afternoon.

Felipe Acosta, the only Maverick to push a third set, claimed his first set with David Kuczer, 6-4, but dropped the final two for the loss.

The Mavericks will return to action April 13 at Tulsa. First serve is slated for 11 a.m.
