The University of Texas at Arlington's men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches on the road over the weekend, falling 5-2 at Oklahoma Saturday and 6-1 at Tulsa on Sunday. The losses dropped UTA's overall record to 10-8 overall.
On Saturday, Javier Carrillo and Niels Buksik were the only Mavericks to pick up victories. Carrillo defeated Silviu Tanasoiu 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 at the third position, while Buksik handed Alex Nomicos an 0-6, 6-4, 6-2 loss at No. 4.
Against No. 56 Tulsa, Buksik was again UTA's top player, winning his singles match and his doubles match alongside partner David Corrie. Buksik defeated Aleksander Charpantidis 4-6, 7-6, 10-8 at No. 4 singles. Earlier in the morning, Buksik and Corrie defeated Charpantidis and Alejandro Tejerina 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles slot. Those were UTA's lone victories in the match.
The Mavericks are scheduled to return home to action April 16 at SMU. The Mavericks were to have faced Texas Tech on the 15th, but that match was canceled. UTA will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 10 a.m. on April 19.
