San Antonio, Texas - The UT Arlington men's tennis team's season came to an end after falling 4-3 to UTSA on Saturday in the first round of the Southland Conference Tournament in San Antonio, Texas.

UTA put up a good fight against the Roadrunners but just couldn't come up with the victory. The Mavericks opened competition by losing two of the three doubles matches and falling in three of the six singles flights.

The Mavericks started the day off with doubles action where Lucas Leppin and Brieuc Hamon suffered an 8-5 loss against Tyler Brown and Yannick Junger in the No. 2 position.

In the top flight, Mindaugas Celedinas and David Subirats were unable to come up with a win, falling 8-5 to Martin Ayala and Daniel Moreiras.

Sophomore Yauheni Yakauleu and freshman Nicolas Moreno's match went unfinished due to UTSA already earning the doubles point. Similar to their match against UTSA in the regular-season, the outcome came down to singles action.

Moreno's match was the first to be completed as he dropped a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 decision to Daniel Moser in the No. 6 flight. Now with a 2-0 UTSA advantage, Subirats put the Mavs on the scoreboard after winning a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 decision over Moreiras in the No. 4 position.

Leppin knotted the score at 2-2 with a 2-6, 6-3, and 6-3 win against Junger in the No. 3 flight. The Roadrunners took a 3-2 advantage following Celedinas's 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 setback to Ayala in the top flight.

Yakauleu's 6-1, 4-6, and 6-3 victory over Brown in the No. 2 flight tied the match at 3-3.

It would all come down to the No. 5 flight which paired up freshman Erik Hjertonsson and Stratmann. Despite a hard fought battle, the freshman suffered the loss, falling 6-2, 3-6, and 6-4.

UT Arlington closed out their season with a 12-10 overall record.
