MAVERICK MEN'S TENNIS PLAYERS ADVANCE IN BAYLOR INVITATIONAL

WACO, Texas - UT Arlington men's tennis team is off to a strong start at the H-E-B Baylor Invitational with three players advancing to the third round.
In singles action, Sophomore Gonzalo Bienzobas retired California Baptist's Karlis Miljons 6-1(inj) in the second round after receiving a bye in the first round in the `B' Draw. Freshman Hugo Taracido topped Texas Tech's Jay Woford 6-2, 6-2 and Louisville's Kenneth Norheim 6-3, 7-6 in the `B' Draw. Also in the `B' Draw, freshman Roman Ogarkov downed TCU's Caleb Bullis 6-1 6-2 in the second round.
Freshman David Costa won his first round match of Draw `A' 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 over Filip Zivojinovic from Rice before falling to Wisconsin's 49th ranked Moritz Baumann 7-5, 6-4 in round two.
Sophomore Dmitry Minkin fell to 87th ranked Jeremy Sonkin from Wisconsin 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 in the first round of the `A' Draw. TCU's Kriegler Brink defeated Minkin 6-2, 6-2 in the consolation draw. Daniel Bello fought hard, but eventually lost 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(5) to Lamar's Emmanual Oliver in the first round of the `B' Draw. Bello will face Texas Tech's Joe Hattrup in the consolation draw tomorrow.
In doubles action, Bienzobas and Hugo was the only duo to advance past the first round. The pair edged California Baptist's Carlos Cime-Lima and Andrew Meister 8-6 in the first round and went on to defeat Andres Medina and Oliver from Lamar 8-5 in the second round. Bienzobas and Hugo will face-off with Texas's Hubert Chodkiewicz and Jon Wiegand tomorrow in round three of the `B' Draw.
