Arlington, Texas - The UT Arlington men's tennis team returns home after three days of tournament action at the Rice Fall Invitational at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium.
Mindaugas Celedinas came close to winning his final singles match against Sudanwa Sitaram of Texas but fell short 7-5, 5-7 and 6-1. Celedinas finished the tournament 1-2 in the singles A bracket.
Freshman Lucas Leppin dropped a hard fought 2-6, 7-5 and 6-4 decision in the singles A consolation championship to LSU's Mark Bowtell.
Yauheni Yakauleu earned a 6-4, 6-4 win in his final singles match against LSU's Julien Gauthier. The sophomore only lost one match in the singles B bracket.
Nicolas Moreno's final match in the singles C bracket against James Langford of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi was cancelled but was moved to the singles D bracket where he went head-to-head against Roger Anderson of LSU. The newcomer lost a hard fought 6-2, 1-6, and 7-5 decision.
Erik Hjertonsson dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Oliver Borsos of LSU in the singles C bracket. The freshman went 1-2 in the three day tournament.
Senior Brieuc Hamon lost the singles D consolation championship to Jonathan Chang of Rice, 6-4, 6-4.
David Subirats dropped a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 decision to Cody Loup in the singles D bracket.
In doubles action, Hamon and Moreno's match against LSU's Szacinski and Knights was cancelled.
Duo Celedinas and Leppn dropped an 8-5 decision to LSU's Roger Anderson and Mark Bowtell. Yakauleu and Hjertonsson lost their final doubles match to LSU's Cody Loup and Borsos, 8-5.
Subirats and Sano were close to winning the doubles B bracket against Seifert and Chang of Rice, 8-5.
The Mavericks continue their fall schedule on October 22 when they travel to College Station, Texas for the ITA Regionals.
