Arlington, Texas - The UT Arlington men's tennis team dropped a 2-5 decision against TCU Sunday at the UTA Tennis Center Sunday, January 25.
In doubles action, the Mavs dropped all three matches to the Horn Frogs. Paul Chappey and Marius Cirstea handed Dmitry Minkin and Minduagas Celedinas a 9-7 setback while Zach Nicholls and Christopher Price defeated Adam Srkala and Yauheni Yakauleu with a final score of 8-4. Hamon and Giacomo Sano an 8-4 loss in the No. 3 position.
In singles competition, senior Minkin and Srkala where the only Mavericks to record victories over TCU. Minkin notched a 3-6, 6-3, and 6-2 win over Cirstea in the top singles spot while Srkala collected a hard fought 6-7, 6-4, and 10-6 victory against Chappell in the No. 5 position.
Celedinas dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision against Mburek in the No. 2 spot while newcomer Yakauleu fell in the No. 4 position to Price, 7-5, 6-4.
Newcomer Giacomo Sano fell 1-6, 6-3,and 3-6 to Kelubia Mabatah in the No. 5 spot.
The Mavs continue their five-game home stand when they face Centenary at the UTA Tennis Center, Thursday, February 11 at 10 a.m.
