MEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS CAMERON UNIVERSITY 5-2
Feb. 12, 2009 Cameron University at UT Arlington Photo Gallery Arlington, Texas - The UT Arlington men's tennis team captured their second win of the season, with a 5-2 victory over #6 Cameron University on Thursday, February 12 at the UTA Tennis Center. The Mavs began the afternoon with doubles' action, as they collected two of the three matches which sealed the doubles' point. Number-one doubles' team, Mindaugas Celedinas and Dmitry Minkin was the deciding match for the doubles' point. The duo collected a hard-fought 9-8 victory over Daniel Pazos and Diego Trojano. Brieuc Hamon and Adam Srkala dropped the second match by a final score of 8-5 to Cristian Easton and Saman Samii but Gonzalo Bienzobas and David Subirats were able to secure the third match with an 8-6 victory against Daniel Bonamigo and Carlos Viscarra. After winning the doubles' point, UTA battled the Aggies in singles' play, winning four of the six matches. Playing in the No. 1 position, Hamon dropped a 6-1, 7-6 decision over Pazos while Celedinas notched his fifth singles win on the season with an easy 6-1, 6-3 win against Cristian Easton.
Senior Minkin handed Saman Samii a 6-2, 6-1 setback in the No. 3 position while newcomer Srkala dropped a 7-5, 6-4 decision over Trojano in the No. 4 spot.
Collecting the final two singles' matches where Jason Lateko and Subirats. Lateko recorded a 6-1, 6-2 win against Carlos Viscarra and Subirats handed Daniel Bonamigo a 6-3, 6-4 setback in the No. 6 position. Up next for the Mavericks is a match-up with Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas on Thursday, February 24 at 2 p.m. The match against Centenary University at 10 a.m. was cancelled.
