Brieuc Hamon Named Southland Men's Tennis Player of the Week
March 9, 2010
Frisco, Texas - UT Arlington junior Brieuc Hamon has been named the Southland Conference's men's tennis player of the week, the league office announced Tuesday. Hamon finished the week with a 1-0 singles and 1-0 doubles mark at the No. 2 spot. He easily recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win over Eric Debusschere of UT Dallas. The native of Noirville, France (St. Marie High School) and teammate Yauheni Yakauleu, partnered at No. 2 doubles to collect an 8-0 victory. The tandem has won three consecutive doubles matches. Honorable mention for this week's men's award goes to Texas-Pan American senior Brett Bernestein. A student-athlete must receive 25-percent of the votes from the league's SIDs in order to qualify for honorable mention. Each school's SID nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player.
