ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington senior Mindaugas Celedinas has been named the Southland Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Celedinas earned weekly honors after going undefeated in both singles and doubles play last week. The Vilnius, Lithuania (Mykolo Birziskos Gymnasium), native defeated opponents from Southern Mississippi, Columbia and Sacramento State at the No. 1 singles position.
"Mindaugas is playing big ball at the moment," UT Arlington head coach Diego Benitez said. "He is taking it up a notch that is for sure."
Celedinas also teamed up with Soren Goritzka to go 3-0 in doubles play. The Mavericks earned a 2-1 weekend record with wins against No. 65 Southern Mississippi and Sacramento State.
"I am very happy with the way he is taking advantage of every single match of his senior year, hopefully he keeps leading us towards big things," Benitez said.
