ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington men's tennis begins a two-match homestand Saturday for its final home matches of the season.
"We have three quality matches to prepare for," UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. "This is a great opportunity to climb in the rankings and reach our peak right before the conference tournament."
The Mavericks (5-9) host No. 19 Columbia Saturday at 10 a.m. at the UTA Tennis Center. The Lions are 12-1 overall with their lone loss a 4-2 defeat against Georgia in January.
UTA continues its home court advantage hosting Wichita State Monday at 2 p.m.
This will be the last time senior Javier Perez plays on his home court. Perez spent two years at Tyler JC before transferring to UTA to compete in two seasons for the Mavericks. The Xalapa, Mexico native has teamed up with sophomore Carlos Arbiza in doubles competition this season for a No. 55 national ranking.
Perez well be honored before Monday's match as the lone senior participating in Senior Day.
