MEN'S TENNIS NOTES
SCOUTING THE ISLANDERS AND BRONCS The Islanders fell to 5-7 on the season while UTPA improves to 4-10 on the year. The Islanders are on a four game losing streak and their last recorded win was on March 6 against New Mexico. UTPA broke a two-game skid with a win over the Islanders. The win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi improves the Broncs record to 4-10, but does not count towards their Southland Conference record, which leaves them at 3-1. The Broncs have collected conference wins over Nicholls State, UTSA, and SE Louisiana.
WHO'S HOT The duo has posted wins over two nationally-ranked programs in No. 75 Univ. of New Orleans and No. 7 Baylor. Last week, Minkin and Celedinas went 2-0, recording victories over Northern Arizona and No. 7 Baylor.
WOMEN'S TENNIS NOTES
MAVS 5-0 IN CONFERENCE ACTION The Mavericks have posted wins over Central Arkansas, Northwestern State, McNeese State, Lamar, and Texas State. Overall, the Mavs are 8-6 and are 4-1 at the UTA Tennis Center.
WHO'S HOT Martinez-Romer's biggest win came against No. 42 Yale where she posted a hard-fought three-set victory over Sarah Lederhandler in the No. 5 position in the lineup. The newcomer has captured wins over Memphis, Central Arkansas, Northwestern State, McNeese State, Lamar, No. 42 Yale, Texas State, Univ. of San Diego, Univ. of New Mexico and New Mexico State.
SCOUTING BEARKATS AND LADY JACKS Stephen F. Austin takes on Texas State on Saturday before their meeting with the Mavericks on Sunday.
The win improved the Lady Jacks to 2-1 in league play and 3-8 on the season.
