ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington men's tennis heads to Murfreesboro, Tenn. for the Middle Tennessee Shootout Friday through Sunday.

The Mavericks are 5-10 overall and have yet to win a road match.

UT Arlington takes on Sun Belt Conference foe South Alabama Friday at 8:30 a.m. to open tournament play.

Doubles pair Carlos Arbiza and Javier Perez enter the weekend ranked 47th nationally with a 7-4 record at the No. 1 position, 1-0 at the No. 2 spot.

DePaul, Southern Illinois, Illinois State, MTSU, Alabama-Birmingham and Troy are also competing this weekend as potential opponents for the Mavericks in the tournament. 

The matches will take place at a variety of sites in the area around Middle Tennessee. It is an eight-team, tournament-style setup that includes a consolation bracket. The event is currently slated to use two facilities in the town of Murfreesboro, the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center on campus and Old Fort Park.

Should inclement weather become an issue, matches will be relocated to Nashboro Village in Nashville.
