April 7, 2004
ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington senior David Corrie was named the Southland Conference men's tennis player of the week, the league office announced Tuesday. This marks the fourth time this season that Corrie has garnered the honor.
Corrie, ranked 40th in the latest polls, helped his squad move into sole posession of second place after going 2-0 last week at No. 1 singles. Corrie earned a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 come-from-behind victory over Texas-San Antonio's Dennis Andrade Saturday and picked up a 7-6, 6-3 win over Texas-Pan American's Jeremy Salvo Sunday afternoon. The senior paired with Nathan McGregor for a 2-0 week at No. 1 doubles.
Texas-Arlington will return to action Friday, April 9 when it plays host to New Mexico State. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
