COSTA NAMED SLC MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

FRISCO, Texas - UT Arlington freshman David Costa has earned his second Southland Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week award, the league office announced Tuesday.
Costa has won five consecutive matches at No. 1 singles, including last week's 2-0 record in the Mavericks' victories over Southeastern Louisiana and Lamar.
The native of Las Palmas, Spain, defeated Matthieu Leboucher of the Lions 6-3, 7-5 and Filip Kanczula of the Cardinals 6-4, 7-5. He also teamed with sophomore Dmitry Minkin for a 9-7 victory at No. 1 doubles against Leboucher and Ondrej Krivka of Southeastern Louisiana.
Costa earned his first SLC Player of the Week honor on Feb. 19.
For the season, he has a 10-8 record in singles play. That includes a 4-2 record in league action and an 8-4 mark in the No. 1 slot.
The Mavericks (9-9, 4-2 SLC) return to the courts Wednesday at SMU at 7 p.m. They play another non-conference match at Oklahoma on Friday at 2 p.m. and wrap up the regular season vs. Louisiana-Lafayette at 10 a.m. Saturday at the UTA Tennis Center.
