ARLINGTON, Texas - - A brief rain shower and a forecast of continued wet weather forced the 2006 Southland Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Championships to move to Ennis, Texas, Friday.

In women's competition, No. 4 Sam Houston State will face No. 5 Texas-San Antonio in the day's first match at 11:30 a.m. The second women's match of the day, No. 3 Lamar vs. No. 6 Louisiana-Monroe, has been moved back to 4:30 p.m. from its originally scheduled 2 p.m. start.

In men's competition, No. 4 Texas-San Antonio will square off against No. 5 Nicholls State at 2 p.m. (moved from 11:30). No. 3 Texas-Arlington will face No. 6 Lamar at 6 p.m. (back from 4:30 p.m.).

Singles play will take place first in each of Friday's first-round matches. Should a match be decided by the singles action, doubles will not be played. If the two teams split the six singles points, the decisive doubles competition will follow the individual play.

The Ennis Tennis Center is located at 2104 W. Ennis Ave. Ennis, Texas, is 52 miles southeast of Arlington.
