ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington head tennis coach Patric DuBois has announced his resignation effective August 8. DuBois is leaving UTA to become the Director of Recreation/Wellness Center at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La. Associate head coach Christian Wassmer has been named the interim head men's and women's tennis coach.

During his nine year tenure at UTA, DuBois' name has become synonymous with winning as the men's team has captured six regular season Southland Conference Championships and five SLC Tournament Titles, making two appearances in the NCAA Tournament. In those nine years, DuBois has been named the SLC Men's Coach of the Year seven times. Under the direction of DuBois, two Maverick players, Christian Jaeger and Andy Leber were each three-time SLC Player's of the Year and Leber was ranked as high as number two in the nation in singles in 2002. DuBois has coached 64 athletes to first or second team all-SLC honors.

Also during DuBois' tenure, the women's tennis program enjoyed significant success as demonstrated by a 46-match regular season SLC winning streak which was snapped this last season. During that winning streak, the team won four regular season conference championships and three SLC Tournament titles, with three trips to the NCAA Tournament. The team has also had individual success as they had the last four SLC Player of the Year awards with Lisa Jackson starting the streak in 2000 and 2001, Marketa Cizova in 2002 and Annemarie Lenze in 2003. The women have also landed 22 athletes on the all-SLC first or second teams.

DuBois is returning to NSU where he served five years as the women's tennis coach. In those five years, DuBois compiled a 63-35 record and led the Lady Demons to the SLC Championships on his way to being named the 1994 SLC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year.

"My decision to leave UTA is strictly a family decision," said DuBois. "My wife and my daughter live in Natchitoches and this will give me an opportunity to spend more quality time with them both. These past nine years at UTA have been very enjoyable and the program has endured a lot of success. It was a very difficult decision to make and I am going to miss my peers and student-athletes."
