ARLINGTON, Texas - The men's and women's tennis program opens its individual fall season in Midland, Texas this weekend at The Racquet Club Invitational.
"This first tournament is for them to get a glimpse of what kind of competition they will be facing for the next seven months," UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. "I'm also looking forward to doubles. This is when you see who pairs well together."
"With all the freshman competing on the women's side, it gives them the opportunity to get used to the climate here," Benitez said. "This is the time for them to see how they compete. They are doing well in practice, but this is the first time they will play against athletes from other universities."
The Mavericks competed in The Racquet Club Invitational last season, with D'Ortona being the only athlete on the current roster to compete again.
