WACO, Texas - UT Arlington's men's tennis program opens its fall season hosting the sixth annual Baylor HEB Intercollegiate, Sept. 22-24 at the Baylor Tennis Center on campus.

This year's tournament consists of 26 schools with over 120 student-athletes participating. The impressive field includes 31 players currently ranked among the FILA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association's national rankings including 13 of the top 50 and four of the nation's top 10. In fact, almost half of the players in the gold draw are ranked nationally.

The tournament will consist of two 64-player singles draws, gold and green, and two 32-team doubles draws (gold and green). Baylor's Lars Poerschke is the tournament's highest ranked player at No. 4. Other top 10 participants include: No. 7 Amau Brugues (Tulsa), No. 8 Erling Tvert (Ole Miss) and No. 9 Jerry Makowski (Texas A&M).

Teams participating include: Alabama, Baylor, Boise State, Texas A&M-CC, Denver, Georgia Tech, Lamar, Laredo CC, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi, New Mexico State, Oklahoma, Radford, Rice, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UL-Lafayette, UT-Arlington, UT-San Antonio, Wichita State and Wisconsin.

Among the UT Arlington players scheduled to play are: senior Daniel Omana (Caracus, Venezuela, junior Alberto Agis (Ponteverde, Spain) and Diego Mattar (La Calera, Chile). Agis earned second-team all-conference honors a year ago for the Mavericks. UT Arlington advanced to the NCAA regional tournament a year ago after winning the Southland Conference Postseason Tournament.
