MEN'S TENNIS OPENS FALL SEASON AT BAYLOR INVITE

Baylor Invite will Consist of 18 Schools and Over 100 Student-Athletes

Arlington, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington men's tennis team will compete in their first tournament of the fall season when they travel to Waco, Texas for the eighth annual HEB Intercollegiate Invitational beginning Friday (Sept. 26).

The invitational will consist of 19 schools with over 100 student-athletes participating. The field includes 22 players currently ranked among the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) national pre-season rankings including 11 of the top 50 and three of the top 10. In addition to an impressive singles draw, six of the competing doubles teams are ranked in the ITA's national pre-season poll.

Teams participating include: Air Force, Arkansas, Baylor, Fresno State, Nevada, New Mexico State, Oklahoma State, Portland, Rice, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-CC, Texas Tech, Tulsa, ULL Lafayette, Texas, UT- San Antonio, and Wichita State.

The Mavericks ended the 2007-08 season with a 9-13 overall record and 4-2 in league play. The Mavs return top players in senior Dmitry Minkin and junior Gonzalo Bienzobas, who combined for 37 victories last season.

The Mavericks will tip-off the fall season at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning at the Baylor Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
