Arlington, Texas - Sophomore Brieuc Hamon finished day one of the Baylor HEB Invitational in Waco, Texas with two victories in singles' action and advanced to the quarterfinals in doubles' competition with teammate Adam Srkala.
Hamon advanced to the round of 32 with a bye and collected a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Jaume Farras. Hamon will face-off against Michael Jung of Alabama tomorrow at 9:15 a.m.
In the A Draw - Men's Open Singles, senior Dmitry Minkin suffered a 6-4, 6-3 setback over Phil Stephens of Tulsa and dropped a 3-6, 7-6, and 1-0 (8) decision against Chris Nott of Arkansas.
In the B Draw - Men's Open Singles, newcomer Jason Lateko advanced to the round of 32 with a bye and suffered a 6-2, 7-5 setback over Texas A&M's Marcus Lunt. Lateko moved to the consolation bracket, where he earned a bye in the first round and will match-up against Rusty Turpin of Tulsa tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. in the second round.
Junior Gonzalo Bienzobas dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Andy Wang of Rice and moved to the consolation bracket, where he advanced to the second round with a bye and suffered a 6-2, 6-2 setback against TCU's Cameron Nash.
Newcomer David Subirats suffered a 6-0, 6-1 setback over Collin Hoover of Texas A&M and moved to the consolation bracket, where he advanced to the second round with a bye. Subirats handed Alex Panayides of TCU a 6-2, 7-6 (5) setback. Subirats will face-off against Wichita State's Scott McCormick tomorrow at 9:15 a.m.

In doubles' action, the highlight of the day was tandem Hamon and Srkala, who advanced to the quarterfinals with a first round 8-6 victory over duo Jose Zunio and Alex Pavlov of Texas A&M- Corpus Christi and a second round win over Scott McCormick and Matt Teivens of Wichita State by a final score of 9-7.
Hamon and Srkala will face-off against Albert Jou and James Seagraves at 8 a.m. tomorrow in the quarterfinals.
Lateko and Subirats collected a first round bye but dropped an 8-4 decision over Geoff Hernandez and Joel Kincaid of Portland.
Bienzobas and Minkin suffered an 8-3 setback against Eduardo Salas and Roman Stoisavljevic of New Mexico State in the A Draw - Men's Open Doubles.
The Baylor HEB Invitational continues tomorrow with the Mavericks hitting the court at 8 a.m. in Waco, Texas.
