Arlington, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington men's tennis team concluded singles' action at the 2008 D'Nova Men's All-American Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Mavericks will be back in action on Tuesday for the doubles' pre-qualifying round.
On Friday, the Mavericks began the pre-qualifying singles' round. Newcomer Jason Lateko led things off with a first round bye but suffered a second round loss to J.C. Whitner of Miami by a final score of 7-6 (5), 6-7 (4), and 6-1.
Mindaugas Celecdinas dropped a 6-1, 6-4 decision to Matt Teivens of Wichita State and Brieuc Hamon suffered a 6-7 (9), 6-2, and 6-3 setback to Marko Starcevic of Sacramento State.
David Subirats collected a 2-6, 7-6 (7) and 7-5 decision over Artur Klimenka of Sacramento State but dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Ignacio Taboada of Miami.
Senior Dmitry Minkin fell to Tulsa's James Seagraves by a final score of 6-3, 6-2 while Adam Srkala suffered a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Philip Eilers of Utah.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. for the start of the pre-qualifying doubles at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
