FORT WORTH, Texas - UT Arlington sophomore transfer, Eddie Beckwith, clocked the fastest time in the Southland Conference this season to win the men's 400 meters with an NCAA Region qualifying time of 47.04 seconds at the TCU Invitational on Saturday.
Seven Mavericks turned in season best times or marks during the final tune up for the upcoming Southland Conference Track and Field Championship May 4-6 in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Beckwith's time ties for the fastest time in the SLC this season and ranks among the top 40 collegiate times this season.
Senior Shay Collett, competing in his second meet of the season, qualified for the NCAA Region with a height of 5.05 meters (16-06.75) for sixth place in the men's pole vault.
Coby Morrison and Byron Majors had season-best times in the 100 meters. Morrison qualified for his fourth event at the NCAA Midwest Region Meet, May 26-27, in Des Moines, Iowa, with a season-best 10.37 in the 100 meters.
The Mavs have qualified seven athletes in seven individual and two relay events for the NCAA Region.
Andrew Duncan III posted a saeason best height of 6-08.75 for fourth place in the high jump.
Curtis Hoyle had a season-best time of 55.34 for eighth place in the 400-meter hurdles.
Jon McDowell placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a 13.93.
The 4x100-meter relay of Jared Connaughton, Majors, Morrison and Jarid Vaughan took second with a 40.29.
