MORRISON, CAREY QUALIFY FOR NCAA REGIONALS

FORT WORTH, Texas - Sophomore jumper Quinchun Carey (Fort Worth, Texas) qualified for the NCAA Midwest regional Meet with a leap of 7.63 meters (25-feet, one-half-inches) and Coby Morrison added his name to the elite list with a region-qualifying time of 52.45 in the 400-meter hurdles at the TCU Invitational on April 23.

The Eastern Hills High School product produced the second-best long jump effort of the year in the Southland Conference and joins Morrison, Jon McDowell (400 meter hurdles) and Adam Stafford (110-meter hurdles) to the regionals.

Other top performances include:

Stafford finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a 14.32 and Ed Broadnax placed eighth with a 14.80.

Devario Johnson jumped 7.28 meter (23-10.75) for fifth in the long jump. Michael Cast took sixth in the javelin with a 50.48 meters (165-070 and James Mannering and Michael Sychrava cleared 6-04.75 for fifth and sixth place in the high jump.

The track and field teams competes at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa this weekend. The SLC Championships are May 13-15 in Huntsville, Texas.
