WICHITA, Kan. - True freshman Pamela Vinson matched a school record in the 55m Saturday afternoon at the Varsity Apartments Shocker Quad.

Vinson clocked a 6.98 in the 55m, tying the mark Rikki Holland set in 2003. Vinson finished second in the event with Shannon Reynolds running a 7.02 for third.

Cordero Gray and Casey Keeter both flirted with UT Arlington records as well. Gray's time of 6.23 in the 55m was 0.01 seconds away from the school record. Keeter turned in a throw of 17.56 meters in the shot put, which also places him second.

Keeter and Gray anchored a men's team that won the event, edging second-place and host Wichita State, 169-155.

The women finished second behind the Shockers in the four-team event, ahead of Doane College and Butler Community College.

Vinson didn't stop with her record-tying performance. She also ran the 400m for the first time in her collegiate career, qualifying for the Southland Conference Indoor Championships with a time of 57.55, which ranked third in the event Saturday.

DeAndrea Smith won the 400m with a time of 57.28.

Vinson, Reynolds, Breonna Baldwin and Smith finished second through fifth, respectively, in the 200m. Vinson's time of 24.73 marked a new season-best.

In the 800m, Lindsey Putman and Esther Abuto each set personal-bests with times of 2:12.09 and 2:12.47 for second and third, respectively. Putman's time in the 800m would rank her atop the Southland Conference.

Putman also set a personal-best in the Mile Run, clocking a time of 5:02.95 to increase her lead in the SLC standings. Putman finished third in the event with Amanda McMahon (5:05.19) finished fourth.

Marniqua Thompson finished third in the high jump with a mark of 1.58 meters.

On the men's side, Keeter's season-best throw netted him first place with Branko Petrovic finishing just behind him with a personal-best throw of 16.64 meters.

Gabriel Hilliard won the triple jump with a leap of 14.38 meters, qualifying for the SLC Indoor Championships in the process.

Dwight Robinson improved his SLC-leading time in the 800m by clocking a 1:51.68 in winning the event.

Cody Widener won the 3000m with a personal-best time of 8:46.26.

Gray finished second in the 55m and third in the 200m. Clayton Vaughn finished behind him in both events, placing third and fourth, respectively.
