ARLINGTON, Tex. - First-year collegiate athlete Romain Martin capped his indoor season with a third-place finish in the heptathlon at the NCAA Championships as well as All-America honors.

Martin tied or bettered a personal best on each of the seven events, accumulating 5897 points in the event over the weekend.

Martin gave UTA its six total points at the NCAA Championships. His score alone put UT Arlington 33rd-place honors at the national meet.

Martin's score currently ranks third in his native France. It also ranks seventh all-time in the indoor heptathlon among Frenchmen and 13th overall in Europe.

Now Martin will set his sights on the decathlon, where he hopes to make a repeat appearance on the podium at the NCAA Championships in May.
