ARLINGTON, Texas --- The University of Texas at Arlington men's and women's track and field teams both brought home fifth place finishes from the University of Houston's Indoor Classic Saturday.

Junior Josh Rosenthal (Carthage) led the men's team by finishing first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.50. Rosenthal was the only Maverick to come home with a first place finish from the meet. Rosenthal finished second at the Southland Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships last season with a time of 48.39.

Senior Chad Polk (Dallas) finished second in the 800-meter with a time of 1:53.31. Polk finished fourth at the SLC Indoor Championships last season with a time of 1:54.17.

On the women's side senior Rukaiya Holland (Houston) led the women's team to a fifth place Saturday. Holland placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.53. She also ran a 25.51 in the 200 to finish fifth. In field events she jumped 18-11.75 in the long jump for a second place finish.

Junior Kajsa Haglund (Bastad, Sweden) finished third in the mile run with a time of 5:00.12. Haglund's fastest time last season in the mile run was a 5:07.53 at the Sooner Invitational.

Freshman Ivorita Taylor (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) finished fourth in the 800-meter with a time of 2:17.15.

The Mavericks will return to action on Friday, Feb. 7 as they head to Lubbock for the Red Raider Invitational. The field events will begin at 11 a.m., while the running events will begin at 12:30 p.m.
