DENTON, Tex. - UT Arlington's relay teams showed immediate improvement over their times from last week at the Horned Frog Invitational.
Competing Friday at the North Texas Open, the men's 4x100m relay team won the event with a time of 39.98. That time places the team of Cordero Gray, Lionel Mungwari, Clayton Vaughn and Andrew Pettis third in the nation.
The women also showed considerable improvement, clocking a 46.36 to finish third in the meet.
"I am very pleased that the work we have put in has shown so quickly," UTA coach John Sauerhage said. "We need to continue to work hard and improve, but today was certainly a major step in the right direction."
Track and field competes again at the Mean Green Invitational on Saturday.
