Arlington, Texas -
UTA will send athletes from both the men's and women's track teams to Norman, Oklahoma this weekend to compete in the 40th annual John Jacob Invitational.
Many Mavs are coming off of season best times in last weekend's Texas Relays that has a handful of them ranked nationally.
According to rankings done by usatfccca.org, Canadian born sprinter Jarid Vaughan is ranked 12th nationally in the 100 meters after posting his 10.23 mark. Junior Andrew Duncan III is tied for the 20th best mark in the high jump nationally with his 2.05m jump and also the fleet-footed Jasmine Walls has the 16th fastest time nationally in the 200 meters with a time of 23.23.
The Mavericks will face similar competition they saw last weekend at the Texas Relays. Big 12 schools OU, Oklahoma State and Kansas will send athletes as well as cross town rival SMU, Arkansas and Oral Roberts (Tulsa). The Lady Mavs will especially have it's work cut out for them on Saturday competing against OU and Arkansas, who both come into the meet ranked in the top-25 nationally.
