ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington track and field teams will split the squad and attend two separate events this weekend. The John Jacobs Invitational at the University of Oklahoma will host part of the squad and the rest will be attending the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California.

The Mt. SAC Relays are the equivalent to what the Texas Relays has to offer. The best athletes from around the country will be competing in the Relays this weekend. The Relays are presented by Puma.

Caroline Erlingson, Christina Mose, Amanda McMahon, Jerono Patrober and Ozie Hood will all be competing in the Relays.

Earlier this week, the U. S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association came out with their second bi-weekly rankings. The men's team was ranked 50th after being ranked 44th previously and are ranked first in the Southland conference. The next closest team in conference is Southeastern Louisiana, who dropped eight spots and is ranked 58th.

The women's team comes in ranked third overall in the conference. Following Northwestern State (75th) and Texas State (96th), the Mavericks hold the 124th spot in the nation, just one spot lower than they were previously ranked.

The John Jacobs Invitational begins on Friday afternoon with the hammer throw and javelin. The track events will begin after the remainder of the field events that start on Saturday at 11 a.m. The collegiate portion of the Mt. SAC Relays will start and finish on Saturday.

Cordero Gray holds the eighth fastest time in the 100 meter dash and is only six hundredths of a second from moving up in the rankings.

Fellow sprinter Jasmine Walls comes in at 72nd for the women in the same event.
