WALNUT, Calif. - A pair of sixth-place finishes at the 54th annual Mt. SAC Relays highlighted the early going for the UT Arlington Mavericks track and field teams.
Emil Blomberg, the lone Maverick to compete on Thursday evening, placed sixth in his section of the 3000-meter steeplechase. His time of 9:02.17 was the fourth-fastest time in school history.
Isiah Clements also registered a sixth-place finish in the high jump after clearing 2.13 meters. It was the second best effort of the season by a UTA high jumper.
In the 200 meters, Quentin Butler logged the team's best time of the season by more than half a second (21.27) to finish 13th. He also competed well in the 100, running the distance in 10.73 seconds.
In the women's 4x400 relay, Breonna Baldwin, Ashly Wright, DeAndrea Smith and Reynolds established a season-best mark with a time of 3:47.02. In the same event on the men's side, Clements, Romain Martin, Anthony Rene and Andrew Pettis ran a 3:18.37.
The select group of Mavericks will complete their stay at the prestigious event on Saturday.
